There are nine recognized subspecies; however, three of them are extinct. Six subspecies of tigers that are still alive are Bengal tiger, Siberian tiger, Sumatran tiger, Malayan tiger, Indochinese tiger, and south China tiger. Their historical range was presented in half of the world including India, Bangladesh, Siberia, Iran, Russia, Afghanistan, China, and southeast Asia, including three Indonesian islands. However, their current presence is diminished to only a few Asian countries in the world.
